Our History

Restore Merced was born in 2016 from the desire to faithfully embody what it means to be the people of God in a particular place - leveraging what we’ve been given for the sake of others and the flourishing of the whole community. According to the story of God in Scripture, this involves a particular concern for the most vulnerable. We believe it is God’s intent that vulnerable neighbors not only have their basic needs met, but have their core relationships fully restored and become those who are now building with God to repair all that is broken in our lives, community, and world.

We started our Restore Jobs program in 2018 - offering a holistic solution to job training and economic development for neighbors with barriers to employment. We perform litter abatement and general clean up work for the City of Merced, Merced County, and the Caltrans/BCOE Back 2 Work Program.

In 2024, we expanded our training program by starting Restore Farms. We grow and sell fresh produce while providing paid work experience to trainees who are interested in agriculture - stewarding the resources of Merced County for the good of the whole community.
